London F.A. Awards night - a hat-trick of success
Junior Reds picked up no fewer than three honours at the London Football Association Annual Awards evening held at Leyton Orient Football Club - to make this a very special occasion.
The first award was the coveted "Charter Standard Development Club of the Year for 2008-09". This was followed by two Football Workforce Awards for outstanding Voluntary service. In the "Young Volunteer" category recognition was given to Ian Wood, whilst shortly after - in the slightly older category - Coach, Glen Laing received a similar honour.
Chairman, Clive Chivers, said "Receiving the Charter Standard Development Club award was a very special achievement as there are many good Clubs in London and this was the second year in succession that this honour has gone to the Junior Reds. I am absolutely delighted to receive this on behalf of so many people in the Club that work tirelessly to enable football to be played practically every week of the year. It was further pleasurable to see two of our Volunteers collect Workforce Awards. Ian Wood, as a Young Volunteer, provides invaluable support to the Under 11 Knights team. Glen Laing lead the Under 14 to Under 16 teams for three seasons and built a very successful side in this time".

UEFA "B" Coaching award - Balazs Szilagyi - special success
The highest Coaching recognition is the UEFA "B" qualification - a scarce award in football circles due to the experience;commitment and level of difficulty. "Baz" attended the David Beckham Academy and was only one of two deemed successful after a long period of work to attain this standard.

New teams are forming - Under 7; 9 and 11
The Club have been very busy over the last few months in forming some additional teams. We are on the way to starting teams at Under 7s; Under 9s and Under 11s. All teams will compete in the Selkent League. The Under 11s will be based at Thamesmead and will play 9-a-side for this season.
Much work however still needs to be done and some vacancies exist in all the new teams. Chairman, Clive Chivers said, " The formation of teams is not an easy process. Finding volunteer Managers to a high standard is not easy. Ideally we would have liked to start more teams for greater opportunity but have been limited by the hunt for volunteers. If any Parent is interested to help the Junior Reds this would be greatly valued.
It is not too late to join one of the new teams as a player. Please contact Clive on 07504 264157 if this is of interest.
